Photo Album - Paul Sobrie (actor)

The short film “Merlin in Love” tales the story of 5-600 year old Merlin living back in time. We meet Merlin, personified by Paul Sobrie, a day after his dead, for himself the day before he dies. This fascinating theme demanded some cerebral exercise from both actors in order to make the characters believable.

Paul Sobrie features in BIG SILVER NIGHTS by Ben Kadie. This shortfilm is dizzying multiplot dark farce. The story follows a pair of unlikely friends on one reckless night. Walter is a 60-year-old part time drug dealer and P.B. is a literal-minded, truth-obsessed 16-year-old kid. After their shift at the burger joint, the pair split up, each on a parallel misadventure. At its heart, the story is an exploration of truth. Each character is dedicated to an ideal. Each lies to themselves or others. The film will be roughly 35 minutes long. We shoot in less than a month and are currently in the heat of pre-production. Dispite it’s comedy, the film handles powerful ideas like love, longing and lying.

BURNED – Web Series (by Samuel Laseke). One of Paul Sobrie’s first appearances in the Seattle film scene and the first time working with director Sam Laseke and outstanding actress Cindy Lemos. Burned was meant to become a webserie about conflicts between CIA-agents, but unfortunately the project got stuck. Sam is getting more and more skilled every day and I’m sure Burned will be realized one day. Paul Sobrie enjoyed working several times with Laseke on other sets in the meantime.

This Holland America commercial features Alaska as one of the company’s main destination. Paul Sobrie was cast after a fierce improv audition. The footage was taken during Alaskan Summer Solstice period: a 10 days inland trip followed by a 3 days Holland America cruise back to Vancouver BC. An experience of a lifetime!

Paul Sobrie’s very first fiction film appearance in 2011, after a lot of commercial film experience. It will probably be Paul Sobrie’s only experience playing a cowboy, being non-American! “Mirage” is a sci-fi short with a lot of optical effects. It was shot in Eastern Washington (Quincy) and in Elma, WA at an abandoned nuclear power plant. Still waiting for the post production to end…

Still is a webserie in the “Zombie” genre, but takes it to another level. Paul Sobrie felt a parallel to British TV-thriller series of the 70’s from the start, even if his shoot took place on the very first day of this series production. It has now about 10 episodes, and Paul Sobrie regrets that he caught the disease right away. He hopes writer/director John Holbrook will write him back in in one way or another…
